Patrick Witty, International Picture Editor of TIME;former freelance photographer on this photograph that he took on 9/11:“After the towers fell, I walked back to my apartment on the Lower East Side, completely in a daze. I had shot black and white film that morning and there was a small lab in the kitchen of my neighbor’s apartment where I could process and scan. When I walked inside, covered in dust and a ripped t-shirt, my neighbors were there and we looked at each other in silence, in disbelief. Another photographer was there who I didn’t know, named David Surowiecki. At the time he was an editor at Getty Images, along with my old roommate Craig Allen. David and Craig were scanning film and transmitting the images from the apartment since Getty’s offices had been evacuated. David’s film from the morning was on a light table near the film dryer in the kitchen. I started looking at his film with a loupe and will never forget the feeling of despair when I saw this one particular image. It was a bizarre and terrifying, yet almost calm image, split down the middle with four tiny bodies falling to the ground. I saw bodies falling when I was near the burning towers, but I didn’t shoot it myself. I couldn’t.”

this photograph intrigues me so much! why isn’t this the most famous photo from 9/11 instead of the falling man? isn’t 2 people holding hands after jumping more significant than 1 man? it makes me wonder what the story is behind this photo, were they friends or lovers? or just strangers who were too scared to jump alone? it shows that people need a helping hand even in their final moments, i love it.
Fucking reblog today; tomorrow. Any day I see it on my dash. Beautiful. I for one think they were strangers. Sometimes it’s easier to care for a stranger, how else would they have found the courage to not only jump, but to look into someone’s eyes and jump. I don’t think I could have done that if I knew the person well.
Damn.
This is so perfect, omg
crying

imagine? this is so amazing.

I actually got chills thinking about it.

I FOUND ITTHE BEST PAINTING OF ALL TIME
It’s called Adam and Eve (or something along those lines, there’s two versions and it’s translated) and the first time I saw it I couldn’t stop laughing for a solid five minutes.
Just look at this shit.
If you just glance at it, it looks like God is flipping off Adam and Eve.

Then you have Adam here like “Hey man, why are you so pissed at me, its all her fault.”

Meanwhile the animals look like someone took a candid photo with a really bright camera flash, even though this was painted in 1623.

The horse is stoned as hell.

Even the babies with God have no clue what is going on, this kid is confused as fuck.

Also, motherfuckin’ flying baby heads because why the hell not.

Like it’s so random the entire rest of the painting is like “what the fuck is this shit.”

Best painting ever.

Dear god, this is one of the most hilarious posts I’ve ever seen on Tumblr.

Got no sleep last night, so I slept all afternoon/ evening and now I’m wide awake when I should be sleeping, crap.

Sometimes I just want to punch you in the face, you make me want to smash my head or better yet your head into a brick wall.
